Geoffrey Mouen, Principal Owner
Geoffrey Mouen is a practicing architect, planner, and educator. He is the founding principal of Geoffrey Mouen Architect and the founding president of the Florida Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America. Established in 1999, Geoffrey Mouen Architects primarily provides traditional architecture, town planning, and design review.
Geoffrey worked for the Robert A.M. Stern Architects from 1992 -1999, where he was an associate in the design of several residences, academic buildings, and mixed-use large-scale projects. Since 1999, Geoffrey has served as town architect for the Legacy Project in Celebration, Florida, as well as other New Urbanist developments, which include the Albany Golf & Beach Club in New Providence, Bahamas, and Golden Oak at Walt Disney World Resort. His design contributions led to the success of Baldwin Park in Winter Park, Florida, including detailing the architectural pattern book, designing multiple Builder Magazine Showcase homes, and the "2004 Palladio Award-winning" Enders Park Community Center. Geoffrey has won eleven Aurora awards, including "Best in State" and the Golden Aurora for best-in-show among 300 entries in 2008" for the Tradewinds 2008 Showcase House given to the best project in a 12 State SEBC.
Geoffrey is a frequent speaker at the Congress for New Urbanism and other organizations on architecture, planning, and sustainable communities. He is a registered architect in Florida and a member of the American Institute of Architects, The National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, the New Urban Guild, and the Congress for New Urbanism. He graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a Master of Architecture in 1989.
Adal Avila, Project Manager
Adal has been an esteemed member of the GMA team since 2008. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from Andrews University and currently serves as the project manager for a range of notable projects, including Disney's Golden Oak Resort, Albany in Bahamas, and Central Florida. Residing with his wife and two children in Celebration, Florida, Adal has been an esteemed member of Celebration's Architectural Review Committee. His outstanding expertise and impressive contributions have made him a highly respected member of the community. Adal's extensive experience in the field of architecture has enabled him to manage projects with the utmost professionalism and precision. His exceptional attention to detail, coupled with his exemplary leadership skills, has made him an invaluable asset to the GMA team. Overall, Adal is a highly skilled professional who has consistently demonstrated his ability to deliver exceptional results. His impressive track record, combined with his unwavering dedication to his work, makes him a highly sought-after project manager in the field of architecture.
Devyn E Bernal, Project Manager
Devyn joined our team in 2017 following the completion of her Master of Architecture degree from the University of Colorado. Prior to that, she earned a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Florida. During her graduate studies, Devyn constructed a micro cabin in the mountains of Leadville, Colorado, demonstrating her exceptional skills in design and construction. In addition, she received training at the prestigious Institute of Classical Architecture and Art in New York City. At Geoffrey Mouen Architects, Devyn serves as a project manager and has contributed to a variety of projects, including Disney's Golden Oak Resort, Woods Ranch in Utah, and central Florida. Devyn is pleased to be back in Florida, where she can be close to her family and friends. She recently got married, and we congratulate her on this happy occasion.
Kate Schnitker, Intern Architect
Kate is an architectural intern who joined GMA for the summer of 2024. She recently completed her junior year at the University of Notre Dame’s School of Architecture, where she spent the past three years studying classical architecture and urbanism. Kate is involved in the School of Architecture’s Stoa Magazine, the Student Association for Women in Architecture, and the American Institute of Architecture Students Notre Dame Chapter.
